Art Museum

Product: Herman Miller, Ethospace system and Caper chairs

About the Client

Founded in 1881 it is one of the country’s oldest visual arts institutions. It was the first general art museum west of the Alleghenies to be established in its own building.

Strategy

The art museum contracted KZF Design Inc. (KZF) to develop under-utilized space to incorporate its education department, along with reducing its overall operating expenses.

Results

KZF designed the Education Department offices within the art museum. KZF’s work celebrated the space and made the employees proud to be working in an environment that was re-invented. The space won an award from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for corporate office interiors. APG Office Furnishings’ Project Management and Design team helped KZF put the finishing touches on the new design, and ensured that the deadlines were met. The furniture was delivered and installed on time and within budget.

Central Ohio Community College

Product: Herman Miller Action Office system, Caper chairs & Bretford tables

About the Client

Recently named one of the 50 fastest growing community colleges in the nation and continues to be the leader in distance learning options in Ohio.

Strategy

The college developed a Campus Master Plan to help navigate the college’s future growth and transformation. The plan was used as a means to better understand and manage the facilities to ensure that it’s Mission, Vision, and Guiding Principles were supported. This tool will help guide the growth and change of the facilities, including land, landscaping, buildings, and utilities as well as pedestrian and vehicular mobility. Part of this plan involved a new structure, consisting of 26,000 square feet of space offering state-of-the-art classrooms and technology. The new structure also needed to be a comfortable and modern place for its students, faculty, staff and visitors to meet informally, socialize and study.

Results

APG Office Furnishings (APG) worked closely with the college to specify furniture lines that had the most functionality for their state-of-the-art classrooms. APG selected training tables and conference room tables that created productive, flexible meeting environments. Each table supported technology and came in a wide range of sizes and shapes that could be reconfigured to accommodate a variety of training applications in the same multi-purpose room. APG designed and selected the appropriate furnishings that supported the future growth and change that the college was looking to achieve in its Campus Master Plan.
